Turn Eight
Mike Humphries
For over 25 years Mike has worked at successful companies
with responsibilities for producing revenue, revenue growth and profits.
The last 12 of those years have been spent producing the same results
for clients either along side or as an interim part of their exec
team. His knowledge and skills come from experience: in early parts
of his career in product marketing and direct sales through to responsibilities
as VP of Sales, VP of BD, COO and General Manager. The result is
a top to bottom perspective of how to diagnose, plan and execute
for revenue growth, and leveraging for the major step-up that even
successful companies need to keep ahead of the pack.
As an executive Mike has repeatedly proven his ability
to build and align the key business elements required to drive customer
acquisition. He has accomplished this in the areas of sales execution
and management, channel sales and selection, strategic and key relationship
management, business development and acquisitions. Additional areas
include professional services, customer services and customer retention
and growth. Senior executive management, General Manager and COO
roles have provided him a multi year perspective of forward looking
requirements, planning and execution.
Five of his companies have achieved significant milestones
in their markets: Fairchild Semiconductor, Tymshare, Oracle and Vignette
and Dorado. At Oracle spanning $12M to $700M in sales, Mike ran OEM
sales, and also pioneered Oracle’s initial success with responsibility
for the ISV, National Accounts and Distribution channels. His key
innovations contributed to their dramatic annual revenue growth and
profits. Mike’s client companies have ranged from a start-up
not yet out of the revenue blocks to Sun Microsystems and their early
preparation for success in the enterprise market with Java.
Mike has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree
from Georgia Tech.
Glenn Johnson
Glenn has over 25 years of leadership experience
launching startups and improving the performance of troubled companies.
He has consistently driven revenue and margin growth in the software
and professional services industries. His rare blend of analytical
ability, people skills, customer focus and strategic thinking has
repeatedly allowed him to lead organizations through rapid growth
and difficult times.
As an executive Glenn’s experience, business
acumen and ability to execute played a key role in the successful
raising of funds from both Angel and Venture Capital investors at
three different companies. His experience acquiring companies and
being acquired imparted an in depth understanding of the challenges
associated with a merger or acquisition. This experience coupled
with his experience in troubled companies sharpened his ability to
rapidly assess people, processes and teams. As a consultant and business
advisor he has assessed several organizations and developed plans
that improved the performance of both individuals and organizations.
He has performed the role of interim CEO, mentor and team leader
on various projects.
His first startup experience was with Oracle Corporation
where he played a major role in building the central region and launching
the professional services organization. As the first VP of Sales
for Blue Pumpkin Software Glenn developed the go-to-market strategy,
built the team and executed the plan that resulted in ten million
dollars in revenue in the first eighteen months. At the Enterprise
Solutions Group of Egghead Software he changed the direction, culture
and focus, and dramatically improved the sales and profitability
of first an $80 million sales region and then a $400 million division.
As President of BarterNet, an industry consolidation, he negotiated
the agreements to purchase 26 companies then led in the development
and execution of the plan to integrate the acquired companies. For
the last five years Glenn has worked with both high technology and
non-technology companies on revenue production issues.
Glenn has held executive positions in ASG, Egghead
Software, Mediaway, Blue Pumpkin Software, and BarterNet.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
from Purdue University and a Masters in Business Administration,
